I'm a bit behind on this news, but last week the American Psychological Association decided to officially dis-recommend therapy to change a client's sexual orientation. While the people convinced they can Jesus the gay out of you aren't going to go away overnight, the data is against them, and they can't validly claim the support of the professional organization.

The APA has actually a long record of comments noting that "reparative therapy" is bullshit, this is just the latest - and a strong one, too, of course.

But this is why they have their own parallel fundamentalist medical and psychological associations. They're bullshit sockpuppetry propaganda houses, of course, but they present them to their followers as peer organisations.
