Last week, I picked up some seeds and biodegradable starter trays. Today, I planted all 64 of them. Almost fills my 5.5sqft of plant-holding tabletop. Each individual plant is going to want a lot more space when grown, of course, but I expect a large proportion of them to die before getting large enough to transplant.
They should germinate in approximately this order:
* Red currant tomatoes (7-10 days; expected by 2/8)
* Brittle wax beans (7-14 days; 2/5 - 2/12)
* Royal burgundy snap beans (7-14 days)
* Hot lemon peppers (10-21 days; 2/8 - 2/19)
* Hot pepper mix: equal parts Big Red cayenne hybrid, Anaheim, Ancho, Biker Blll (sic) hybrid, and Hungarian Wax (10-21 days)
* Little Cloud cauliflower (7-21 days; 2/5 - 2/19)
They should be ready to start harvesting in approximately this order:
* Brittle wax beans (52 days; 3/29 - 4/5)
* Royal burgundy snap beans (55 days; 4/1 - 4/8)
* Little Cloud cauliflower (65 days; 4/11 - 4/25)
* Red currant tomatoes (70 days; around 4/16)
* Hot lemon peppers (70 days; 4/19 - 4/30)
* Hot pepper mix (80 days; 4/29 - 5/10)
The first beans should be ripe during Pesach, which suggests that I should start earlier next year. The first peppers should come in by finals week. All of the plants I've got this year should be able to grow freestanding, with possible exception of the tomatoes.
