Yesterday I spoke to a doctor about my dodgy left knee. She told me that what was most likely going on was that my quadriceps were pulling on my kneecap with uneven force, causing it to slip out of its channel and start grinding a new one. Side-to-side stability of the joint is apparently good enough to indicate that I haven't sustained injuries to the stabilizing ligaments, and so don't need a brace.

The good news: it can be fixed with a set of physical therapy exercises.

The bad news: I need to build and maintain a habit of doing the exercises.

Yesterday evening I went through the full set of exercises, once, with the lowest recommended number of repetitions. Some 24h later, my knee is still rather achy and I'm going to need to be careful with it. First month of PT is always a bear.
