When I filed a police report about the theft, I was informed that stolen bicycles are typically not recovered. Since I have some pretty specific ergonomic requirements for a bike, I decided that it wasn't worth it to wait and see what Craigslist and Freecycle have to offer. (Also, I'm probably not skilled enough to properly evaluate a used bicycle, and I'd rather not take a chance on something without a warranty falling apart a few months after purchase.) So I spent yesterday afternoon walking between bikeshops and test-riding bikes.
Like last time, there was only one model (this one) that could be adjusted enough for comfortable use. It has everything I need, and I hope to eventually modify it to fit my wants (rear cargo rack, trigger-style gearshift) as well. Conveniently, this is the end of the model-year, so it was also on sale. I've put it on layaway; next goal is to come up with enough money to finish paying for it. I'll have more on that later tonight. For now, I'm going to enjoy Shabbat.
