Things fall apart; the center cannot hold

My paternal grandmother can't attend my wedding; she'll be receiving chemotherapy (again).

I just called the Hillel office of the rabbi who'll be performing the wedding ceremony. The secretary tels me that he's unavailable because his mother has just passed away.

Life has a remarkable way of timing things like these.
