The Days of Awe (ten days between Rosh HaShannah and Yom Kippur) are traditionally a time of reflecting on the past year, trying to live up to the best within ourselves, and figuring out how to make some of that difference stick. Instead, I've either been battling the endless flow of homework, or trying to figure out why I hurt and what I can do to prevent it. (Compression stockings look like they might help with the foot pain I wrote about in the last post.)

Still, I'm here now, and I have some time. The take-away lesson from this year's Yamim Noraim should probably be to not overload myself... except that I can't actually drop any of my obligations. So I guess I'm storing that lesson for when I'm done being an undergrad, whenever that happens. This past summer was a heavy-handed reminder that I need to escape from Arizona - something else for the 'after graduation' stack. I may or may not be able to leave for parts of the interveining summer(s).

Depending on how things work out with my job towards the end of the academic year, I may end up tethered by it the way I did by my research credits last summer. Work means income, though. And now that I have income, I can at least resume giving to charity. Is that a worthwhile challenge for this year? If nothing else, it's the one that comes to mind as having the greatest potential doability.
