So, I baked bread today. By the time it was cool enough to eat, I was hungry and tired. While cutting the first slice, either my hand or the knife slipped, putting my hand in the way of the blade. I'm lucky that I only wound up with a 1cm or so cut across the knuckle of my left index finger.

What I should do under those circumstances is so deeply ingrained as to be reflex - clean, bandage, pressure. And I actually managed to get that done and type a grumpy IM to [livejournal.com profile] zeightyfiv before I fainted. Because ow. And then I woke up on the floor, because ragdolls don't stay in rollychairs very well. As nearly as I can reconstruct, I got up and then fainted twice more before it occurred to me that maybe I should stay down for a while. It's interesting to note that my thought process each time was something like "Huh, I'm on the floor. How did I get down here? And where's the gauze pad?" (Although it took some time for me to realize that it might be near where my hand had been.) And only then, "Where's my glasses?"

Somewhere in there I picked up rugburns on my face, which sting far more than they have any right to. And my primary pair of glasses will need some tinkering to become wearable again. I'm really glad that I opted for spares when I last had my prescription updated.

And after all that, I've finally managed to try some of the bread. It's tasty. But on the whole.. Probably not worth it.

Owie. I think I would have fainted before or during the "clean" step if at all.

I can certainly say, for a fact, that you have me beat. I have not yet fainted at the sight of my own inner red juice leaking out, even when it was in large amounts. But I do get very faint at it! I am almost there!

All joking aside, glad you did not faint on the edge of a sharp desk and leave us all wondering what happened when someone finally discovers your corpse ... Or simply break a nose or somesuch.

Ambient clutter FTW!

Multiple times.

You need more, however, to defeat possible rugburn.
