The Onion wouldn't dare touch this one. Why? Because it's real.
In These Times has a piece today about how The Anti-Defamation League Is Making It Less Safe To Be A Progressive Jew. The leadership is conflating advocacy for Israel to start treating Palestinians humanely in all the many ways it currently isn't, with genocidal antisemitism. (Not all of the staff agree with that stance, and this is not a new issue. Transcript of a relevant Zoom meeting begins ~25% of the way down the page.) The organization has shown a willingness to make nice with even the most open anti-Jewish bigots, so long as they also declare support for Israel.
I could not make this shit up.
Irony is truly dead, and we have killed it.

I think the problem is that Israel has become synonymous with Judaism, and Israel is currently in the grip of some pretty extreme right wing fascists. So, if you're anti-Israel it's being equated to antisemitism by those same politicians because one of the necessary pillars of fascism is a perceived external threat to keep the populace in line ("Only we can protect you from the enemy!" .. or as another wannabe dictator put it "Only I can keep America safe!")
