Huh. We now know what makes eczema itchy.

The Guardian reports that Staphylococcus aureus, already associated with and predispositive towards eczema development, makes a protein that interacts directly with the nerves that produce/transmit itching sensations.

Hm.. wonder if you could make a competitive inhibitor based on that protein that blocks the receptor sites, and stops the itch. I mean, we have some great pain relief drugs, but nothing really for itchiness.
